Ideas for days out in March

Wow the weather this week looks amazing, blue skies and bright sunsine, hello spring thank goodness you have finally arrived I really hope you stay for a while!

We offer 3 nights for the price of 2 across all our rooms in March so if you are planning a stay with us below are a few suggestions on how you might spend your days in the Sunshine ☀☀

While March can still be a bit chilly, there’s plenty you can enjoy during your stay. Here are some ideas for things to do nearby

Visit the Beach

  • Beach Walks: The beach is less crowded in March, which means you can enjoy long, peaceful walks along the coastline. You might spot some local wildlife and enjoy the fresh sea air. There is a really good circular walk from Sea Palling up to Eccles and round back through the lanes, it is one of my favourites
  • Seal Watching: Sea Palling is close to the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), so if you’re lucky, you might spot some seals along the coast from Sea Palling and Waxham along to the large colony of seals at Horsey
  • Cromer: About 30 minutes from Sea Palling, this classic seaside town is known for its pier and the famous Cromer crab. Take a stroll along the pier or enjoy some fish and chips in one of the local restaurants, see what shows are on in the Pier theatre

Explore the Norfolk Broads

  • Boat Hire: March may still be cool, but you can hire a boat and explore the scenic Norfolk Broads. The waterways are beautiful, and you’ll get a chance to see the unique wildlife and picturesque landscapes. We recommend Sutton Staithe Boatyard for day boat and picnic boat hire
  • Canoeing or Kayaking: If you’re looking for a more active experience, rent a canoe or kayak to explore the quieter parts of the Broads. Try Dilham Hall Retreats the waterway there is not accessible to boats so a really beautiful spot

Outdoor Activities

  • Walk the Norfolk Coast Path: If you’re up for a bit of adventure, the Norfolk Coast Path offers stunning views and trails that you can explore by foot. Even in March, it’s a great way to get some fresh air and enjoy the scenery.
  • Cycle Around the Area: There are many cycling routes around Sea Palling and the surrounding areas, perfect for a gentle ride or a more challenging route, we can advise on cycle hire, for some routes take a look at The Broads by Bike
  • East Ruston Old Vicarge Gardens are now open for the season and there Spring planting is stunning

Birdwatching

• The area around Sea Palling is a hotspot for birdwatching, especially for migratory birds. March is a great time to spot early spring migrants in the area, we offer private access for birdwatching on the farm
• Hickling Broad: Just a short drive away, Hickling Broad offers wonderful nature walks and wildlife spotting, including birdwatching. The Cranes are often very active at this time of year

Hopefully that offers a little inspiration and we are very happy to help you plan your days in the area once you arrive and you are of course most welcome to stay in and relax if you prefer, do whatever makes you happy and enjoy your stay with us
