We have a super farm shop and garden centre just outside Stalham called A.G.Meales, its about 10 minutes from us. We use their tomatoes and mushrooms for breakfast along with lots of their fruit and vegetables. They also stock a great range of local meat products so if you are staying in one of our cottages it’s a far more interesting place to get your groceries than the local Tesco!
You can do “table top” pick your own strawberries and other fruit in the summer months which lots of children have never experienced. I was terrible as a child we lived opposite a pick your own farm and it was always one for the tub and one for me….
This summer they built a new coffee shop called “Vera’s”. I have to say I’m not a great fan of the name but the interior of the new coffee shop is bright, cheerful and contemporary with a wide range of lunch and light bites options. It was Winter when we went but in the summer months they have a large outdoor seating area for sunny days. I went in with my 13 year old son Joe and he loved the giant sausage roll, followed by an enormous piece of Victoria Sponge cake. I opted for roasted tomato soup with chunky bread, it was piping hot and delicious. You have to order at the till and they then bring your hot food to the table. The prices were reasonable and the service good so I have to say if you are passing “Vera’s” it worth a visit and you can stock up on all sorts of local produce while you are there. http://www.agmeale.co.uk/vera-s-coffee-shop/
